A Little About Me

BIO

Health takes many forms. At school, we nurture growth, self-esteem, the consciousness of others, and more; all while academics are often thought to be the only focus.

Healthy mind, body, and relationships promote educational growth.

I'm Noreen Carey, the School Nurse at WAS! I am a lifelong Bergen County resident and a graduate of The College of New Jersey where I earned my nursing degree.

I began my career at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, in pediatrics. My next position was in a busy academic surgical practice at NYPH where I had many roles. While working in NY, I earned a Master of Public Health from Columbia University, School Public Health.

Returning to clinical practice within the pediatric population became my next career goal. So, it was back to school, again! I enrolled in the School Nurse/Health Education programs at Felician College. My health education student teaching was based in the Clifton Public Schools and my school nurse field experiences were based in local towns and at "WAS".

After this, I never really left Woodside Avenue School. I served as a substitute school nurse in local school districts including Franklin Lakes. I joined the Franklin Lakes School District as a part-time nurse in 2006 and in 2012 I was appointed the School Nurse of Woodside Avenue School.

My husband, college-age son, and our crazy labrador retriever Murph and I, live close by. We love the Jersey Shore and visit Harriman State Park with Murph often.

I am excited to be working full-time at Woodside Avenue School and look forward to getting to know your children, supporting them, and teaching them important information about their health.
